WASP MILAN ER
To provide land forces with new operational capabilities, MBDA, Panhard and Sagem have modified the WASP remote-controlled turret to enable crews to fire MILAN ER medium-range missiles under armour protection.
The WASP MILAN ER turret is being presented at the 2009 Paris International Air Show on the Panhard stand (No. AB020), mounted on a light armoured vehicle (VBL).
This new turret includes most of the components of the WASP turret (launched by Panhard and Sagem in 2008) including, in particular, the capability of operating a 7.62 mm machine gun under armour for close defence of the vehicle. The WASP’s Sagem camera has, however, been replaced with a multi-sensor camera of the CM3 type to provide the crew with long-distance observation capability by day and night and in all weather plus the capability of firing a MILAN ER missile to engage and destroy any battlefield threat within a range of 3000 m.
The WASP MILAN ER turret thus offers new capabilities for armoured vehicles engaged in operations, providing support for dismounted infantry or for logistic convoy escorts. Operating the missile from the vehicle protects the battery crew from enemy fire and increases the responsiveness of the weapon system’s operation.
Panhard General Defense, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Auverland since the beginning of 2005, has been designing and constructing armoured vehicles for nearly a century including, in particular, the VBL light armoured vehicle of which 2,300 are currently in service and the PVP, more than 930 of which has been ordered by the French Army. Au SIAE 2009, le WASP MILAN ER est présenté sur le stand Panhard (n°AB020), intégré sur un véhicule blindé léger (VBL).
Le tourelleau WASP MILAN ER reprend la plupart des composants du tourelleau WASP (lancé en 2008 par Panhard et Sagem), notamment la capacité de mettre en oeuvre sous blindage une mitrailleuse de 7,62 mm pour la défense rapprochée du véhicule. Toutefois, la caméra Sagem du WASP est remplacée par une caméra multi senseurs de la famille CM3 qui va permettre à l’équipage d’une part d’observer à longue distance, de jour comme de nuit et par tous les temps et d’autre part de tirer un missile MILAN ER conçu pour engager et détruire toutes les menaces du champ de bataille sur une profondeur de 3000 m.
Le tourelleau WASP MILAN ER offre donc une capacité nouvelle aux blindés engagés en opération, agissant en appui des fantassins débarqués ou lors de l’escorte de convois logistiques. La mise en oeuvre du missile depuis le véhicule protège l’équipe de la batterie aux tirs adverses et permet de gagner en réactivité de mise en oeuvre du système d’arme.
Panhard General Defense, la filiale à 100 % de Auverland depuis début 2005, conçoit et produit des véhicules blindés depuis près d’un siècle, notamment le Véhicule Blindé léger (VBL), 2300 exemplaires en service dans 16 pays et le PVP, commandé à plus de 930 exemplaires, par l’armée de terre française. Um Landstreitkräften neue operationelle Möglichkeiten zu bieten, haben MBDA, Panhard und Sagem den ferngesteuerten WASP-Turm so umgebaut, dass die Besatzungen auch MILAN ER-Flugkörper mittlerer Reichweite unter schützender Panzerung abfeuern können.
Der WASP-MILAN ER-Turm wird auf der Paris International Air Show 2009 auf dem Panhard-Stand (Nr. AB020) vorgestellt, wo er in ein leichtes Panzerfahrzeug (VBL) integriert sein wird.
Dieser neue Turm enthält die meisten Komponenten des WASP-Turms (2008 von Panhard und Sagem auf den Markt gebracht), einschließlich der Möglichkeit des Einsatzes eines 7.62 mm Maschinengewehrs unter Panzerung zur Nahverteidigung des Fahrzeugs. Die Sagem-Kamera des WASP-Turms wurde jedoch durch eine Multisensor-Kamera vom Typ CM3 ersetzt, damit die Besatzung bei Tag und Nacht sowie bei allen Witterungsbedingungen das Feld über große Distanzen beobachten kann. Dazu erhält sie die Fähigkeit, einen MILAN ER Flugkörper abzufeuern, um jede Bedrohung auf dem Gefechtsfeld in einer Entfernung von bis zu 3000 m bekämpfen und zerstören zu können.
Der WASP-MILAN ER-Turm bietet somit neue Möglichkeiten für gepanzerte Fahrzeuge im Kampfeinsatz und leistet Unterstützung für Infanteristen und Begleitfahrzeuge von logistischen Konvois. Der Einsatz des Flugkörpers vom Fahrzeug aus schützt die Mannschaft vor feindlichem Beschuss und erhöht die Reaktionsfähigkeit des Waffensystems im Einsatz.

Per fornire forze di terra con nuove funzionalità operative, MBDA, Panhard e Sagem hanno modificato la torretta telecomandata WASP per consentire agli equipaggi di utilizzare i missili a medio raggio MILAN ER sotto la protezione dei mezzi corazzati.
La torretta WASP MILAN ER verrà presentata al Paris International Air Show 2009 presso lo stand Panhard (N. AB020), installata su un veicolo corazzato leggero (VBL).
Questa nuova torretta include la maggior parte dei componenti della torretta WASP (lanciata da Panhard e Sagem nel 2008) ed in particolare, la capacità di azionare una mitragliatrice da 7,62 mm per una difesa efficace del veicolo. La telecamera Sagem di WASP, tuttavia, è stata sostituita da una telecamera multisensore di tipo CM3 per fornire all’equipaggio la possibilità di osservazione a lunga raggio, sia di giorno che di notte e in qualsiasi condizione meteorologica, oltre alla possibilità di lanciare un missile MILAN ER per agganciare e distruggere qualsiasi minaccia entro un raggio di 3.000 m.
La torretta WASP MILAN ER offre quindi nuove funzionalità ai veicoli corazzati impegnati nelle operazioni, fornendo il supporto della fanteria o dei convogli di scorta logistica. La possibilità di lancio del missile dal veicolo protegge l’equipaggio della batteria dal fuoco nemico e aumenta la velocità di risposta del sistema d’armi.
