Peruvian Navy Carries Out Record Breaking Launch
The Peruvian Navy successfully launched an Otomat missile from the Aguirre frigate, hitting a target at a range in excess of 150 kilometers. The launch, which confirmed the performance and reliability of the Otomat missile, was carried out at the Cruz de Hueso firing test range. The Peruvian Minister of Defence, Antero Flores-Araoz, was present at the launch expressed his satisfaction with the missile and the Navy’s performance.
The Otomat firing formed part of the “Angamos” exercise and was intended to be particularly challenging for the Peruvian Navy. The challenge lay in the fact that it was the first launch carried out at such a distance and represented an absolute record for a South American Navy. The Otomat missile carried out its mission successfully, hitting the target as intended by the launch plan.
In addition to the Peruvian Minister of Defence, the Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Josè Aste Daffòs, and the Army Chief of Staff, General Otto Guibovich Arteaga, were also present along with the Navy Staff. They all congratulated MBDA staff on the support they provided to the missile launch.
Fabrizio Giulianini, Managing Director of MBDA Italy and MBDA Executive Group Director Sales & Business Development stated: “With this launch in South America, the Otomat is once again at the top of its category in the anti-ship missile sector, offering interesting sales opportunities in those countries that already have this weapon system and in those that would like to have such a reliable system with proven operating capabilities in their weapon inventory”.
Over 1,000 Otomat missiles have been sold to several Navies around the world. Its configuration with a turbo jet engine and its long range allow the missile to go over the radar horizon and make the Otomat the ideal anti-ship system. Furthermore, MBDA has just completed a programme which has resulted in the total digitalization of the missile. This will allow the missile to face the operating requirements of the near future in a “blue and brown waters” context as well as adding a land attack capability.
MBDA has completely updated the missile and provided it with a digital standard. This involves all the on- board electronics as well as the mission management system which will now allow multiple three-dimensional way points to be included. As a result of this development work, the new standard, the Otomat MK2 Block IV, will be in the product range for the next twenty years.
Le 8 décembre, un missile Otomat tiré par la Marine péruvienne à partir de la frégate Aguirre a atteint sa cible, distante de plus de 150 km. Le tir, qui confirme les performances et la fiabilité du missile Otomat, a été réalisé sur le polygone de tir de Cruz de Hueso, en présence du ministre péruvien de la défense Antero Flores-Araoz qui s’est déclaré satisfait des performances du missile et de la Marine.
Ce tir était organisé dans le cadre de l’exercice « Angamos » et était réputé particulièrement difficile parce qu’il s’agissait du premier tir réalisé par la Marine péruvienne à une distance aussi élevée qui représente un record absolu en Amérique du sud. Le missile a exécuté son vol à la perfection et a frappé sa cible dans les conditions prévues par le plan de tir.
Le chef d’état-major des armées, l’amiral Josè Aste Daffos, et le chef d’état-major de l’armée de terre, le général Otto Guibovich Arteaga, assistaient également au tir et se sont joints au ministre de la défense pour remercier le personnel de MBDA pour le soutien actif apporté à l’organisation du tir.
Fabrizio Giulianini, directeur général Italie et directeur Sales & Business Development du groupe MBDA, a déclaré : « Avec ce tir sud-américain, l’Otomat confirme une nouvelle fois sa place au sommet de sa catégorie ainsi que son potentiel commercial dans les pays qui sont déjà équipés de ses versions plus anciennes, tout autant que dans les pays qui souhaiteraient acquérir un missile antinavire fiable aux capacités opérationnelles éprouvées ».
Plus de 1.000 missiles Otomat ont déjà été vendus dans le monde. Sa configuration avec un turboréacteur et sa longue portée permettent à l’Otomat d’engager des cibles au-delà de l’horizon radar et font de lui un système antinavire idéal. En outre, MBDA a achevé récemment un programme de numérisation complète des équipements du missile. Cette évolution permettra à l’Otomat de faire face aux exigences opérationnelles futures dans un contexte d’engagements pouvant avoir lieu tant en haute mer que dans les zones littorales ou encore vers la terre.
MBDA a entièrement rénové l’Otomat et a porté à un standard numérique l’ensemble de ses cartes électroniques ainsi que son système de gestion de mission qui permet à présent de programmer une trajectoire en trois dimensions comportant des points tournants multiples. Le nouveau standard Otomat MK2 Block IV, qui résulte de ce développement, s’inscrira dans la gamme des missiles MBDA pour les vingt prochaines années.
Am 8. Dezember feuerte die Peruanische Marine erfolgreich einen Otomat-Flugkörper von der Fregatte Aguirre auf ein über 150 Kilometer weit entferntes Ziel ab. Der Schuss, der die Leistung und Zuverlässigkeit des Otomat-Flugkörpers demonstrierte, fand auf dem Schießplatz Cruz de Hueso statt. Der bei dieser Übung als Beobachter anwesende Peruanische Verteidigungsminister, Antero Flores-Araoz, drückte seine Zufriedenheit mit dem Flugkörper und der Leistung der Marine aus.
Der Otomat-Schuss erfolgte im Rahmen der Übung “Angamos” und sollte eine besondere Herausforderung für die Peruanische Marine sein. Die Herausforderung bestand darin, dass dies der erste Schuss über eine solche Distanz war und einen absoluten Rekord für eine südamerikanische Marine darstellte. Der Otomat-Flugkörper erfüllte seine Aufgabe erfolgreich und traf das Ziel gemäß den Vorgaben des Schießplans.
Neben dem Peruanischen Verteidigungsminister beobachteten auch der Oberbefehlshaber der Marine Admiral Josè Aste Daffòs und der Oberbefehlshaber der Landstreitkräfte General Otto Guibovich Arteaga mit dem anwesenden Marinepersonal das Geschehen. Sie alle beglückwünschten die MBDA-Mitarbeiter zu ihrer Unterstützung bei diesem Flugkörperschuss.
Fabrizio Giulianini, Generaldirektor der MBDA Italien und MBDA Vorstandsmitglied Sales & Business Development kommentierte: “Mit dieser Demonstration in Südamerika hat sich der Otomat erneut an die Spitze seiner Klasse der Anti-Schiff-Flugkörpersysteme gesetzt und eröffnet interessante Verkaufsperspektiven in den Ländern, die bereits über dieses Waffensystem verfügen und in jenen, die gern ein so zuverlässiges System mit nachgewiesenen Einsatzfähigkeiten ihrem Waffenbestand hinzufügen würden”.
Über 1.000 Otomat-Flugkörper sind weltweit bereits an mehrere Marinen verkauft worden. Mit seinem Turbojet-Antrieb und seiner großen Reichweite kann der Flugkörper über den Radarhorizont hinausfliegen, was den Otomat zu einem idealen Anti-Schiff-Flugkörper macht. Darüber hinaus hat MBDA gerade ein Programm, zur vollständigen Digitalisierung des Flugkörpers abgeschlossen. Damit kann der Flugkörper die zukünftigen Einsatzanforderungen auf hoher See und in küstennahen Gewässern erfüllen und zusätzlich gegen Landziele eingesetzt werden.
MBDA hat den Flugkörper komplett auf den neuesten Stand gebracht und mit einer digitalen Ausstattung versehen. Dazu zählen die gesamte Bord-Elektronik sowie das Einsatz-Leitsystem, mit dem nunmehr auch eine Vielzahl von dreidimensionalen Wegpunkten mit einbezogen werden können. Dank dieser Entwicklungsarbeit wird der neue Standard, der Otomat MK2 Block IV, für die kommenden 20 Jahre in der Produktreihe bleiben.
Lo scorso 8 dicembre la Marina Militare del Perù ha lanciato con successo un missile Otomat dalla fregata Aguirre colpendo un bersaglio ad oltre 150 chilometri di distanza.
Il lancio, che ha confermato le prestazioni e l’affidabilità del missile Otomat, è stato effettuato nel poligono di Cruz de Hueso alla presenza del ministro della difesa di Lima Antero Flores-Araoz che ha espresso il suo pieno compiacimento sulla prestazione resa dalla forza armata e del suo missile.
L’attività, che si è svolta nell’ambito dell’esercitazione “Angamos”, è stata particolarmente impegnativa per la marina del Perù in quanto si trattava del primo lancio a queste distanze che rappresenta un record assoluto per una marina del sud America. Il missile Otomat ha comunque eseguito la missione correttamente colpendo un bersaglio come previsto dal tema di tiro.
Oltre al ministro della difesa del Perù erano presenti il capo di stato maggiore della difesa, ammiraglio Josè Aste Daffòs, il capo di stato maggiore dell’esercito, generale Otto Guibovich Arteaga, e tutto lo stato maggiore della marina del Perù che si è complimentato con lo staff di MBDA che ha supportato il lancio in questione.
Fabrizio Giulianini, Managing Director di MBDA Italia e Executive Group Director Sales & Business Development di MBDA ha dichiarato: “con questo lancio in sud America l’Otomat si conferma ai vertici della sua categoria nel settore dei missili antinave oltre ad aprire interessanti sbocchi commerciali verso quei paesi che hanno già in servizio questo sistema d’arma e verso quei paesi che desiderano mettere in linea un sistema affidabile e dalle provate capacità operative”.
L’Otomat è stato venduto in oltre 1000 esemplari a diverse marina in tutto il mondo. La sua configurazione con propulsore a turbina e lunga gittata ben oltre l’orizzonte radar rendono l’Otomat un sistema antinave di eccellenza inoltre MBDA ha appena completato il programma di piena digitalizzazione del missile che gli consentono di affrontare i requisiti operativi del prossimo futuro in contesti di “blue and brown waters” oltre che ad aggiungere capacità di land attack.
MBDA ha aggiornato completamente il missile ad uno standard digitale che ha riguardato tutta l’elettronica di bordo ed il sistema di missione che ora consente l’inserimento di way point tridimensionali multipli. Con questo nuovo standard, l’Otomat MK2 block IV è in grado di rimanere in linea per il prossimi venti anni.
