MBDA and KAI to deepen cooperation
MBDA and Korean Aerospace Industries (KAI) have signed an agreement to deepen cooperation. The agreement will see the companies explore new opportunities for the integration of new MBDA weapons onto KAI platforms and the export of both together via a joint marketing approach.
The agreement was signed on Monday 20th November by Chris Allam, Managing Director of MBDA UK, and Kang Goo-young, CEO of KAI, in London during a Korean State visit to the UK.
Eric Béranger, CEO of MBDA, said:
“The combination of MBDA’s world leading weapon products and technologies with KAI’s proven record of new aircraft development and rapid delivery is an exciting prospect for the world defence market, reflecting the shared values and interests of both parties.”
Kang Goo-young declared:
“Recently, there has been growing global demand for various armaments. We will work with MBDA to propose enhanced domestic fighter aircraft to our customers.”
MBDA is already committed to working together with KAI to complete successfully the integration of MBDA’s Meteor beyond visual range air-to-air missile on the KAI-led KF-21 Boromae fighter aircraft.
Examples of new areas of co-operation being explored under the new agreement include the integration of new MBDA weapons such as SPEAR, ASRAAM, and Brimstone onto KAI platforms such as KF-21 and FA-50, and the export of the above platforms and missiles.

MBDA et Korean Aerospace Industries (KAI) ont signé un accord pour renforcer leur coopération. Cet accord porte sur l’étude de nouvelles opportunités d’intégration de systèmes de missiles MBDA aux plateformes de KAI, ainsi que leur exportation suivant une approche marketing commune.
L’accord a été signé à Londres lundi 20 novembre par Chris Allam, Managing Director de MBDA UK et Kang Goo-young, CEO de KAI, à l’occasion d’une visite d’Etat de la Corée du Sud au Royaume-Uni.

« La combinaison des systèmes de missiles et technologies au plus haut niveau mondial de MBDA, associés à l’expérience de KAI en matière de développement et de livraison rapide de nouveaux aéronefs, ouvre des perspectives très stimulantes pour le marché mondial de la défense et souligne nos intérêts communs ».
Kang Goo-young a ajouté :
« Le marché mondial de l’armement a connu récemment une forte augmentation de la demande. Nous travaillerons avec MBDA pour proposer à nos clients des avions de combat améliorés ».
MBDA et KAI travaillent aussi ensemble à l’intégration à l’avion de combat KF-21 Boromae, du missile air-air Meteor, qui peut effectuer des tirs au-delà de la vue directe.
Ce nouvel accord prévoit de nouveaux axes de coopération, dont l’intégration de systèmes MBDA tels que les missiles SPEAR, ASRAAM et Brimstone à des plateformes de KAI comme le KF-21 et le FA-50, ainsi que leur exportation.

MBDA e Korean Aerospace Industries (KAI) hanno sottoscritto un accordo per rafforzare la loro cooperazione.

Kang Goo-young, Korea Aerospace Industries, ha affermato:
“Recentemente c’è stata una crescente domanda mondiale per armamenti di vario genere. Lavoreremo insieme a MBDA per proporre un velivolo nazionale ancor più avanzato ai nostri clienti”.
MBDA è già impegnata con l’azienda coreana per completare con successo l’integrazione del missile METEOR (missile aria-aria oltre la linea di vista) sul caccia KF-21 Boromae di KAI.
Esempi di ulteriori aree di cooperazione che saranno esplorate nell’ambito del nuovo accordo includono l’integrazione dei nuovi sistemi d’arma di MBDA – come SPEAR, ASRAAM e Brimstone – su piattaforme KAI come KF-21 e FA-50 e l’esportazione di piattaforme e missili.

MBDA und Korean Aerospace Industries (KAI) haben eine Vereinbarung zur Vertiefung ihrer Zusammenarbeit unterzeichnet. MBDA arbeitet mit KAI bereits bei der Integration des MBDA-Luft-Luft-Lenkflugkörpers Meteor in das Kampfflugzeug KF-21 Boromae zusammen und setzt sich für die erfolgreiche Umsetzung des Projekts ein.
Beispiele für neue Bereiche der Zusammenarbeit, die im Rahmen des neuen Abkommens untersucht werden, sind die Integration neuer MBDA-Waffen wie SPEAR, ASRAAM und Brimstone in KAI-Plattformen wie KF-21 und FA-50 sowie der Export der genannten Plattformen und Lenkflugkörper.
