About EXOCET Family
Exocet is a renowned family of long-range anti-ship missiles of the "high subsonic" speed class, which can be deployed from a wide range of platforms (naval, air or land). Recognised worldwide as the benchmark for anti-ship missile capability and effectiveness, the Exocet family has achieved unique recognition in naval defence, not only for revolutionising naval warfare but for consistently staying at the forefront of innovation.
Introduced in 1968 by the French Navy, the Exocet has since been adopted by more than 35 countries around the globe. Its evolution has produced three highly interoperable, complementary systems AM39 (air-to-sea), SM39 (submarine-to-sea), and MM40 (sea-to-sea), offering medium to long-range capabilities.
What sets the Exocet apart is its ultra low-level sea-skimming flight profile, allowing it to evade enemy radar until the final attack phase. Coupled with an advanced active radar-homing seeker, it autonomously locks onto targets with pinpoint precision guidance, ensuring lethal strikes even in heavily defended environments. Its ability to operate 24/7 in all weather and electronic warfare conditions, combined with its "fire-and-forget" capability and advanced target recognition, makes it a key asset in naval warfare.
Exocet’s compact design, paired with outstanding penetration capabilities, allows it to strike a wide variety of targets. Combat proven in numerous conflicts, the Exocet family has established itself as a reliable and lethal anti-ship missile, leading to its widespread adoption by naval forces to protect their maritime sovereignty.
