Our ESG Engagement in Supply Chain

MBDA is resolutely committed to contributing to a safer and more sustainable world. To obtain sustainability in all MBDA countries, Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) criteria are essential. As we engage on our ambitious journey, we want to establish a sustainable supply chain, securing commitment from and strong ties with our suppliers.

Our priorities

Our Supply Chain Charter outlines what our sustainability and ESG ambitions and expectations are. We have placed strong emphasis on ethics and human rights. We mention issues such as fighting bribery, corruption and slavery, health and safety, environmental impact, conflict materials, whistle-blower protection, diversity and inclusion, tax payment and others.

Transparent communication about practices, systems and controls helps us align them, and makes us responsible in how we all work together to achieve a more sustainable world.

What we expect from our suppliers

Our ESG ambitions are for ourselves, our suppliers and their Tier 1. First they have to be aware of what our objectives are and how they would impact them. We would encourage our prospective suppliers to accept them and agree with our ambitions before they get in touch with our Procurement team.

We then take them through an on boarding process that includes ethics, financial and cyber checks, environmental reporting and an ESG evaluation performed by either MBDA or a third party.

A continuous improvement process

Our ESG goals are continually updated to account for progress we have made. We also therefore continually assess our efforts together with our suppliers and train and educate each other to meet new objectives.

As we adapt and develop the ESG abilities of our suppliers, their suppliers will also have to follow suit. Eventually, the full supply chain will need to measure, publish and regularly update their results.

Supply Chain Requirements towards our Suppliers

To remain a missiles & missile systems world-class leader, we rely on our supply chain to meet the quality requirements of our industry. Thus, our suppliers, together with our MBDA Procurement and Supply Chain teams, are key stakeholders to join forces against the threats of our ever changing environment, such as the cyber risks, but also to ensure compliance with the regulatory framework, such as the export control regulations.
