About SEA VENOM/ANL
MBDA, in partnership with the UK and French Governments, has developed SEA VENOM/ANL, creating a new generation smart anti-ship missile capable of conducting precision strike missions in congested littoral environments.
SEA VENOM has been specifically designed to neutralising a broad naval target set encountered in littoral maritime operations, up to an including corvette-sized vessels equipped with point defence systems. Its guidance systems, sea-skimming flight profile and large multi-function warhead can also deliver a wide range of effects against coastal threats, enabling it to be used in missions such as maritime counter-terrorism, amphibious overwatch, deliberate strike, naval fires and high intensity conflict.
The system has several advantages over other systems in its weight class. It utilises a secure 2-way datalink to enable Operator-In-the-Loop (OITL) supervision of the engagement, with capabilities such as alternative target selection, aim point refinement or mission abort. These features ensure that it can be used in very stringent Rules of Engagement (RoE).
SEA VENOM is suitable to be integrated with a wide range of platforms, including helicopters, un-crewed air and surface vehicles (UAVs and USVs), naval patrol ships and also as fixed or mobile/relocatable coastal defence batteries.
The new system has been developed to ensure compatibility with existing logistic footprints, thereby allowing current users of legacy systems such as Sea Skua or AS15TT to upgrade easily.
SEA VENOM/ANL offers:
- Dedicated anti-ship missile and littoral strike missile.
- Up to 4 missile load out on each platform
- High precision strike capabilities for safe employment in restricted RoE.
- Minimal adaptation to existing ship storage and handling equipment
- High reliability and availability for low through-life costs
