MBDA, the European leader in complex weapon systems and a global player providing battlefield superiority, will be showcasing at Eurosatory 2026 a comprehensive portfolio of sovereign defence solutions to address the needs of armed forces in an increasingly uncertain and conflictual strategic environment. As Europe and its allies accelerate rearmament – against a backdrop of ongoing conflicts, widespread use of missiles and drones in mass – MBDA is meeting the challenge, combining cutting-edge high-performance systems with innovative effectors tailored to the needs of mass, cost-efficiency, and adaptability – embodying a new "smart mass" approach.
Designed and produced through a new cooperation model, combining civil and military ecosystems, these new effectors complement MBDA’s portfolio and ensure the readiness of armed forces.
At Eurosatory, MBDA will display a full range of solutions in the domains of Deep Precision Strike, air defence and battlefield warfare, these being foundational requirements for modern warfare in a “sword and shield logic” approach.
A comprehensive strike portfolio, from smart mass to decisive systems
At Eurosatory, MBDA will present highly survivable and multi-domain solutions on the battlefield, from 150 km range with THUNDART to more than 1,000 km with the Naval Cruise Missile (NCM) and its ground-based adaptation the Land Cruise Missile (LCM). For the first time, a complete Land Cruise Missile system– integrating the new-generation NCM MK2 – will be showcased. The LCM/NCM MK2 will significantly enhance the performance of the system. NCM/LCM constitutes the sole European and combat-proven Deep Precision Strike sovereign solution rapidly available today. Combined with DPS solutions, MBDA new low cost and mass production strike capabilities – from saturation with ONE WAY EFFECTOR (OWE) to penetration with CROSSBOW OWE HEAVY – strengthens the operational superiority of armed forces in a high-intensity context. OWE and CROSSBOW OWE HEAVY present step-change in our development, with design to demonstration firing in less than 1 year and in response to customer requirements ahead of contracts, as well as new partnerships with civil industry for mass production.
MBDA and Safran Electronics & Defense will also present THUNDART, and for the first time, a complete system – including the munition and its launcher, exhibited on the Safran booth. Following the successful first test firing of the THUNDART munition on April 14, this jointly developed European solution is designed for rapid industrial scale-up and targets a first operational capability by 2029, as a sovereign replacement for legacy rocket artillery systems (Lance Roquettes Unitaires).
MBDA will also promote its range of remotely controlled ammunition, AKERON RCX50 – developed with drone specialist Novadem in under two years of self-funded development – as well as the AKERON RCH170, co-developed with Delair and KNDS France for medium-range loitering requirements.
MBDA: a global leader delivering sovereign European systems to protect the skies
As the sole European company offering the full spectrum of sovereign complex weapons solutions, MBDA stands more than ever alongside the armed forces, helping them overmatch the most complex threats. To pursue its mission, MBDA has developed a wide portfolio of solutions, especially for Air Defence. Present on all layers of the Air Defence, MBDA provides solutions for all type of threats, from anti-drone with SKY WARDEN system, to the most high-end threats, with MISTRAL, FULGUR, VL MICA, CAMM, ASTER and AQUILA family of missiles.
Some solutions are already available and have proven their value on the battlefield, such as MISTRAL 3 and MICA, or the ASTER – SAMP/T system. These capabilities, natively interoperable within NATO, have been procured by many customers.
To tackle future threats, MBDA is developing the ASTER B1 NT, integrated into the SAMP/T NG system. The first systems will be delivered to the French and Italian air and space forces in 2026 for operational evaluation. In addition to the ASTER capacity, the SAMP/T NG will implement a multilayer capacity, becoming the unique European system able to integrate various effectors in full NATO operative ABT/TBM chain. Looking ahead, the AQUILA interceptor is already laying the groundwork for further interception capabilities against complex hypersonic threats, to defend European sovereignty. MBDA stands ready for the next phase of this major European project.
In the counter-drone domain, MBDA continues to evolve its SKY WARDEN system – now proposed for the protection of critical civilian and strategic infrastructure and scalable from peacetime to wartime. The current conflict in the Middle East has also stressed the urgency of being able to rely on solutions whose cost and complexity are strictly sufficient to deal with drone-type threats, reflecting a need to consider attrition of complex ammunition stocks. MBDA is working on new mass interceptor solutions against drones and saturation attacks through agile partnerships and European cooperation to rapidly respond to new threats.
With a comprehensive range of defence solutions, MBDA is ensuring battlefield superiority and protecting the skies for European armed forces and their allies, today and tomorrow.
To respond to surging demand for rearmament, MBDA continues to ramp up its production capacity and investments. The Group has committed €5 billion in investments over the 2026–2030 period – more than €2 billion of which will be invested in France. Celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, MBDA reaffirms its commitment to European cooperation, extending to Sweden, Poland, Denmark and beyond, and its role as a trusted partner for armed forces.
