Coming from our manufacturing location of Selles-Saint-Denis in France, the 2.000th MISTRAL 3 has been presented to the DGA (Direction Générale de l’Armement) on June 25th.
To celebrate this key milestone, a special event was organised by MBDA, to welcome the DGA representatives and the French Army (SIMu) and offer them a mockup of this versatile multi-domain and multi-platform (land, sea and air) missile.
This 2.000th MISTRAL 3 demonstrates concretely the strong ability of MBDA to ramp up and face the increasing demand. Thanks to the investments done in MBDA and its supply chain, the MISTRAL production capacity has been developed and multiplied by 4 since 2022.
Latest version of a long success story started in the early 1990’s, the MISTRAL 3 is known to be perfectly adapted to today’s and future threats and is combat proven. This ground-air VSHORAD missile works on a “fire-and-forget” mode, with a high maneuverability and its high supersonic speed, guaranteeing a short interception time. These functionalities allow it to intercept a wide type of threats, from aircrafts to helicopters, drones, cruise missiles, FIAC and loitering munitions.
As a real commercial success, the capabilities of the MISTRAL 3 have been recognized by European Defence Industry Reinforcement through common Procurement Act (EDIRPA). 9 European countries will hence acquire 1.500 MISTRAL 3 through the DGA, reinforcing the air defence systems of Europe and serving the need of Europe rearmament.
