MBDA held its first Supplier’s Day in Latin America, an event strategically focused on expanding industrial partnerships. The choice of Brazil reflects the country’s geopolitical relevance and the group’s established presence, which includes a local subsidiary, MBDA in Brazil.

With more than 50 years of activity in Latin America, MBDA has contributed to strengthen technological capabilities in the region’s defence sector. In Brazil, the company participates in strategic projects alongside the Armed Forces, including advanced systems such as the METEOR missile, as well as initiatives involving the Brazilian Navy and other highly complex technological programmes. MBDA’s activities also extend to several other Latin American countries, reinforcing its commitment to the security and sovereignty of its partners.

The main objective of Supplier’s Day was to identify and develop partnerships with companies from the Defence Industrial Base (DIB) that can integrate into MBDA’s global supply chain. The initiative underscores the group’s commitment to industrial cooperation, promoting the integration of cutting-edge technologies with local production capabilities, in line with its global operating model.

During the event, held at MBDA headquarters in Brazil in Rio de Janeiro, MBDA executives delivered a series of strategic presentations highlighting the central role of suppliers. Topics included the current landscape of the defence industry, the structure and functioning of MBDA’s supply chain, as well as the group’s main opportunities and immediate needs. Participants also received information on MBDA’s innovation programmes and ways to engage with these initiatives, reinforcing the importance of continuous collaboration with industrial partners.

In total, 16 companies were selected to participate in direct meetings with MBDA representatives. Throughout these meetings, collaboration opportunities were assessed, with the potential integration of these companies into strategic projects.

Priority areas of interest include sensors and guidance systems, critical electronics and processing, propulsion and hypersonic technologies, energetic materials, energy solutions and thermal management, miniaturization, systems integration, testing and qualification, as well as advanced materials and surface technologies.

According to Pierre Marquis, Director of MBDA in Brazil:

“We seek to establish structured collaborations that strengthen essential technological capabilities in the country, expand the participation of Brazilian industry in global supply chains, and stimulate joint development with a focus on strategic autonomy and international competitiveness. MBDA in Brazil remains committed to strengthening the Defense Industrial Base and building long-term industrial relationships aligned with national strategic priorities.”

Holding the Supplier’s Day in Brazil reaffirms MBDA’s commitment to the development of the regional industry and to the creation of a collaborative ecosystem capable of driving innovation, technology transfer, and sovereignty in the defence sector.
