Singapore’s Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA) and European defence group MBDA have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that will pave the way for joint efforts to explore innovative and low-cost solutions for countering drone threats. The announcement was made on the sidelines of IMDEX Asia.

The partnership underscores a shared commitment from DSTA and MBDA to undertake technology sharing and jointly build advanced technological solutions to improve detection, identification and response against drones, amid the fast-evolving threat landscape.

“With the increasing accessibility of drones, we see a growing need to manage their use safely and effectively. By combining our strengths in this domain with MBDA, we aim to push the boundaries of drone defence and unlock the potential of smart capabilities that will further strengthen the Singapore Armed Forces’ readiness,” said DSTA’s Deputy Chief Executive (Operations), Mr Roy Chan.

“We are pleased to sign this MOU with DSTA. Cooperation is in MBDA’s DNA. This is a partnership born from a common view on how to counter the threats posed by drones – a partnership supported by shared goals of how we can use innovation to provide capabilities that will protect the Singapore Armed Forces and their assets,” said Executive Group Director Programmes and Managing Director of MBDA France, Mr Stéphane Reb.
