MBDA Deutschland submits proposal For TLVS/MEADS
On 28th September 2016, MBDA Deutschland GmbH submitted its proposal for the development of TLVS, Germany’s future ground-based air defence system, to BAAINBw (the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support).
“The offer presented to BAAINBw is the result of a detailed analysis and negotiation process with our partners and suppliers. It is based on the RFP (Request for Proposal) we received at the end of February 2016 and forms the basis for negotiations with the German customer”, said Thomas Gottschild, Managing Director of MBDA Deutschland. The common objective is that the German parliament will be able to review the negotiated and finalised contract in spring 2017.
TLVS, based on MEADS technology, will provide unprecedented protection for both civilians and soldiers on operations either at home or abroad. Special system features include: 360-degree coverage, open system architecture and a “plug & fight” capability. This latter feature allows the attaching and detaching of additional sensors, effectors and weapon systems during uninterrupted operation, as well as rapid deployment. In addition, the TLVS air defence system can be operated at a significantly lower cost to the user than existing systems and with fewer personnel and will provide the German Air Force with a level of interoperability with allied forces that has not been available up to now.
MBDA Deutschland GmbH hat am 28. September 2016 das Angebot für die Entwicklung des zukünftigen deutschen Taktischen Luftverteidigungssystems (TLVS) an das BAAINBw (Bundesamt für Ausrüstung, Informationstechnik und Nutzung der Bundeswehr) übermittelt.
„Das Angebot ist das Ergebnis einer detaillierten Analyse und intensiver Verhandlungen mit unseren Lieferanten. Es basiert auf der Angebotsaufforderung, die wir Ende Februar 2016 erhalten haben und ist Grundlage für die Vertragsverhandlungen mit unserem deutschen Kunden“, sagte Thomas Gottschild, Geschäftsführer von MBDA Deutschland. Das gemeinsame Ziel von Industrie und Kunde ist die parlamentarische Befassung im Frühjahr 2017.
Das MEADS-basierte TLVS kann zur Landes- und Bündnisverteidigung und zum Schutz der Truppen im Einsatz verwendet werden. Besondere Eigenschaften des Systems liegen in der 360-Grad-Abdeckung, der offenen System-Architektur und „Plug & Fight-Fähigkeit“, die eine Ankoppelung weiterer Sensoren und Waffensysteme gestattet, sowie der schnellen Verlegbarkeit. Außerdem kann das Luftverteidigungssystem im Vergleich zu eingeführten Systemen mit deutlich niedrigeren Kosten in der Nutzung und mit weniger Personal eingesetzt werden. Es ermöglicht der Luftwaffe darüber hinaus ein bisher nicht verfügbares Maß an Interoperabilität mit den Bündnispartnern.
