Steve was appointed Executive Group Director Technical and Managing Director UK of MBDA in January 2008. He had previously been Managing Director UK of MBDA, a role he took up in 2003. In addition to his Managing Director role, Steve has responsibility for the Technical capability across the MBDA Group, which includes engineering capability, company investment and Advanced Systems and Products. Since the end of 2006, Steve has also been Co-Chairman of the National Defence Industries Council Research and Development Group (NDIC RDG) in the UK.
Prior to these most recent appointments, and following the formation of MBDA in 2001, Steve had been Project Director with responsibility for delivering the PAAMS(S) naval air defence programme destined for the UK Royal Navy's new Type 45 destroyers.
This role followed on from previous ones within Matra BAe Dynamics (later to be merged into MBD and then MBDA) gaining engineering experience in areas such as neural network research, electronic design, modelling, trials analysis and system design.
Steve Wadey graduated from Cardiff University with a First Class Honours degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering in 1991.
He was born in Bideford, Devon and is married with three children.
